We entered 2019 with sincere and continued dedication to building trails on abandoned rail lines to create healthy places for people in Wayne County. With your support, trails can become a reality, and the quality of life here will be greatly enhanced.Not only that, but the more we build the more we will attract people from other localities to come and enjoy Wayne County.
As you are well aware, building trails takes time and money. Nationwide, the typical cost for one mile of paved trail is $500,000. Generous support from trail lovers like you helps us build and maintain rail-trails in Wayne County.Grants, memberships, and contributions over the past four years helped us build a trailhead and 1 mile of The Heartland Trail in Orrville and 2.4 miles of trail between Marshallville and Forrer Road in Orrville. This year, we will begin to connect Forrer Road to Orrville.Our previous projects, The Sippo Valley Trail section between Dalton and Stark County, The County Line Trail connecting Rittman, Sterling and Creston, and a short segment of The Holmes County Trail in Fredericksburg,have provided countless hours of recreation for thousands of people of all social, economic and age ranges
Wayne County is being recognized as an important part of the nationwide network of trails as Ohio has quickly become an major leader in successfully building great, attention-getting trails.We will continue the work of building excellent trails for you and for others to enjoy now and in years to come.Please see the enclosed form to fill out and return with your membership contribution for 2019.
